All Welcome

Over the years many common synthetic pesticides and fertilizers have been linked to damage to both our health and to the health of domestic and wild animals. There is increasing concern about the adverse effects that the use of these manufactured products can have on us and on the soil.
All living things are inter-related and inter-dependent. As organic gardeners we treat the soil and the growing environment as a resource to be nurtured for future generations, rather than exploited for short term gain. We believe that these methods benefit our own health, and create a sustainable growing environment for our plants.
Chemical fertilizers and pesticides have only become commonplace since the second world war, as agriculture and horticulture became more intensive. As organic gardeners we believe it is time to reverse this trend. We advocate the use of both traditional methods and new innovations in sustainable techniques that will nurture our soil rather than plunder it. These methods also result in more varied and attractive gardens.
The unseasonal availability of many flowers and vegetables is achieved by intensive use of energy and feeds - plants are frequently grown outside their native environment where they need much nurture to survive! We advocate the planting of native varieties that are adapted to our soil and climate.
