Harpers Lane Allotment Society was founded in 1907 and is one of the 38 Bolton Council allotment sites.  Our allotment site provides a wide range of benefits to it's community of members, the local area and the environment.

The many benefits  of allotment growing include exposure to fresh air, escape from a stressful world, good form of exercise, helping young people learn about nature and food growing, controlling the use of pesticides, promoting composting and producing excellent tasting food.

Harpers Lane Allotments has taken a positive step towards keeping rare vegetable varieties alive by joining the Henry Double Day Research Association, the national charity for organic growing.  This has allowed us access to the Heritage seed library and many of our members are currently growing these historic European varities.
